I never realized how as a photographer, natural light can either be your best friend or an enemy. Throughout this semester, we have learnt different kinds of lighting and what effects good & bad each of them has. The downfall about natural light is that it is different every day. You cannot predict exactly what it will look like the following day or even within the next couple hours.
When I was given this assignment, I believed it was going to be easy enough although, during the winter months, the sun is hard to come by during the evening. These photos were taken in morning, which meant having to get myself out of bed for sunrise. My original plan was to capture the landscape but instead, I decided to capture a series of my pup enjoying some time outside. In this series, I am bribing him with a treat to get him to sit for the photo.
The impact of shooting with naturaI light, specifically during the Golden Hour can dramatically influence the overall mood & aesthetic of the photograph, by having a soft golden colour temperature, creating highlights & shadows etc. Personally, I enjoy shooting during golden hour. My goal this summer would be to do photoshoot on the beach during golden hour.
